Fix leaks. lift the boat up and put it on saw horses. let the boat sit in the upright position. fill the bottom of the boat with water and check from beneath for leaking rivets.. An aluminum boat is usually constructed in sections with the individual sections joined with rivets. over time, the rivets can work themselves loose, causing seams to separate and allowing water to leak into the boat.. My 16ft. aluminum boat has a leak somewhere that i cannot find for the life of me. the weird part is it doesn't leak all the time. one time you take it out on the water and it comes back dry as a bone, the next time there is water in the bottom when i come off the lake..
